Hey people, I'm back with another post and this time it's not gymnastics related! I am going to be telling you why I think 14 will be the best age. I turn 14 in two months (October 28) so I thought it was a good time to write this post.

I think 14 will be a great age because you can have a job (at least in NC you can) and you can also have fun being a kid and doing sports and stuff! So I will be working (hopefully at my gym) and earning money while still having the benefits of being a kid!

Another way I think 14 will be fun is because even though I will hopefully have a job I will still not have to worry about bills or paying for a phone or anything like that! (though I am paying for some of my gymnastics stuff)

I also am excited because My family does this tradition that I get a new 'freedom' every year. For example, my last freedom was food so now I can snack on whatever whenever I want! I don't have any idea what my freedom will be this year but I'm hoping it's good!

So those are a few of the reasons why I think 14 will be a great age! I hope this post was enjoyable! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching Gabby perform but she did not do so hot in tryouts this year and Ragen did amazing. Gabby fell on a full turn on beam and they still took her... I also think they should have taken Maggie Nichols as a alternate because she is just so fun to watch! Maggie is always smiling and looks like she has fun whenever she performs. If you want to see her floor routine click here ! I am almost certain she would have been picked if she was not recovering from a injury. I haven't said anything about Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian or Aly Raisman. So here is my opinion. I think Aly is a great fit for the USA Olympic team because she can ROCK her routines. They are so fun to watch! Click here for her floor routine! Madison and Laurie are great gymnasts and I don't have much to say about them because they deserved their spot on the Olympic team! Last but DEFINITELY not least I will talk about Simone. Simone is probably the best gymnast on the team this year because she is always so solid and she can tumble like no other gymnast I know. She is always smiling and I think she will be winning a gold medal this year.

So that's all I have for today and I hope it was interesting....make sure to check out my other posts!
As a gymnast I know that the worst thing that can happen to you (besides rips) is having a mental block on a skill you either really want or desperately need. Mental blocks are a pain and it can be very hard to get over them. I had a mental on my back handspring for forever! So today I will be sharing my top 5 tips to get over mental blocks!

1. Imagine yourself doing the skill perfectly. The more confidence you have the better!
2. Warm up with similar skills. Ex. for a standing back tuck warm up with back handsprings and high back handsprings.
3. Count to a designated number in you head. In my round-off back tuck I count to five and then throw the skill. When I am attempting back walkovers on beam I count to three.
4. If available, get a spotter. A spotter helps boost your confidence for the skill. If you can already do the skill, have the spotter spot you with one hand so you feel safe.
5. My last tip is to never hesitate because the more you hesitate the bigger your fear can get. Just go for the skill and tell yourself that you can do it.
I'm Kayleigh and I'm a 13 year old gymnast! I am starting this blog to inspire people and to encourage them to try their best no matter what the circumstance is. So without further ado I will tell you my gymnastics story....

I don't really remember what got me in to gymnastics but I remember being really excited to start. My first class was a homeschool class and I was in that class for about four months. Back then my goal was to compete so I asked my homeschool coach what program I should try that would get me to a competitive level FAST. He recommended TNT (tramp and tumble) so I started Rec. classes and quickly moved up levels. I was in tramp and tumble pre-team when I realized I wanted to try all four events. So I went back to Rec. classes but this time in Girls Gymnastics. In all my classes I was the oldest and I longed for a teamate who was my age. I wanted to compete in Girls gymnastics but the gym I was going to was too expensive. I continued to practice and practice 24/7 at home on my beam, tumbling mat and trampoline. (Now you know why my worst event is bars LOL) It wasn't until about 4 days ago that we found a gym that looked like it had a affordable team! My mom and me emailed the gym but they never responded so yesterday my mom called them and we found out that they had a program for girls like me who started gymnastics later in life and still wanted to compete and have teammates their own age. I am trying out this program on August 8th! If I do this team I will have to pay for some of it! Our family is still working this out

So that's my gymnastics story story and I hope it was interesting! I will keep this blog updated with what my journey holds next! Bye gymternet gymnasts!
